So our night in Fond du Lac at the Retlaw was a wee bit disappointing since the ghost was a NO SHOW. It is a beautiful hotel, privately owned now and it is well maintained pictures to follow. Before leaving Fond du Lac we managed to find a Goodwill store and even with detours and poor or no street signs we found the Lighthouse park.... worth the trouble, very pretty gardens, beautiful flowers and a nice clear day to see Lake Winnebago
From Fond du Lac we made it to Manitowoc.... stayed in the honeymoon sweet at the Super 8. OK it was not that but it had an adjoining room at according to Telma the couple next door had one hell of a fight, yelling, and doors slamming... there is an advantage to not hearing so well sometimes....
Before we left we walked out to the lighthouse and there was a light sprinkling but we are neither sugar or salt so didn't melt and we got on the road again.
Monday found us in Oconomowoc so we checked in where the conference is being held 2 days early. Settled in the room than down to the spa, hot mineral tub, cool water (to close the pores) than into the jacuzzi life is tough.....
Tuesday went to a cool place Old World Wisconsin.... is run by State Historical Society and DNR (Dept of Natural Resources) Old buildings of significance that were moved from various parts of the state. Each had a volunteer dressed in period costume that told about the place. My only problem was some were like robots they had a set speech and there was no stopping them to ask questions it was almost comical at times.
Today we really did ride the Segways, now I really want one. It was an hour and half tour by Lake Michigan and over to the DIscovery Museum, Art Museum and the Summerfest area. Both Telma og Lovise managed to stay upright and one smart ass lady managed to biff, she looked like she was pretty sore and I bet she will be feeling it tomorrow if not already tonight.
Had a short visit with 1 cousin 2x removed, Jeff he's very important and took time to go to Starbuck where Telma og Lovise had some 'fancy' coffee, no flavors, just straight....
We have managed to get the lay of the land near the hotel (they call it a resort and spa, aren't we the fancy pants???? ) found some good places to grub and a good little Mexican restaurant which also does American.....
Our third room mate arrived tonight and now I got to share the bed again with Telma, she puts up with my snoring so now it is time to go to bed and share these pictures below with you.
